Telecom Shed - Viaduct Basin, Auckland

An iconic tensioned fabric membrane architectural structure.

Project Details

Client: Telecom New Zealand
Fabric Type: PVC
Scope of Work: Concept - Design - Fabricate – Install Steelwork & Fabric
Location: Viaduct Basin, Auckland, NZ
Size: 12.5m x 18m
Completion: 1st January 2010

The Telecom client was looking for an iconic event venue to accommodate their interactive technology display, to leverage their sponsorship of Team New Zealand, in the 2003 Americas Cup Regatta.

The architecturally designed tensile membrane structure took centre stage in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour complementing its prestigious waterfront location and the maritime focus of the area.

With over 600,000 visitors to the Telecom Shed during the 6 month event and the publicity the “Shed” achieved the project was acclaimed an outstanding success. After the event the building was redeployed and now accommodates an indoor mini-putt golf course.
