BUILD

Te Hiku Sports Hub is a landmark project that showcases cutting-edge design and engineering excellence. This state-of-the-art facility is now a central hub for community sports and activities in the Far North region.

The Te Hiku Sports Hub, designed with a focus on modern functionality and aesthetic appeal, features bespoke tensile fabric structures that seamlessly integrate with conventional insulated wall cladding systems. Our team at Fabric Structures leveraged our expertise in custom fabric solutions to create an innovative and durable environment for the local community.

Key highlights of the project include the use of high-performance Serge Ferrari PVC fabrics. The roof membrane is crafted from Serge Ferrari PVC 902S2, known for its durability and flexibility, while the liner membrane utilizes Serge Ferrari PVC 402N, which enhances thermal insulation and acoustical performance. These materials were chosen for their ability to withstand the region's weather conditions and maintain their integrity over time.

On-site, the installation process required innovative methods to manage the duo-skin and insulation. Fabric panels were suspended and aligned using temporary supports before being tensioned and secured to achieve the desired shape and stability. This approach ensured that the fabric installations were completed with a high degree of precision, meeting both aesthetic and functional requirements.

The Te Hiku Sports Hub stands as a testament to Fabric Structures’ commitment to quality and innovation. By collaborating with local suppliers and professionals, including FNR for civil works and Arcline Architects for design liaison, we ensured that the project not only met but exceeded expectations.

We are thrilled to see the Te Hiku Sports Hub now serving as a vibrant community asset, offering a modern and versatile space for sports and recreation. The facility reflects our dedication to creating functional and visually striking environments, and we look forward to seeing its positive impact on the Kaitaia community.

The Te Hiku Sports Hub stands as a beacon of community development, a state-of-the-art facility that will not only enhance the region’s sporting landscape but also serve as a gathering place for people of all ages and backgrounds. It was incredible to witness the culmination of years of hard work, collaboration, and dedication that brought this ambitious project to life.
