BUILD

The redevelopment of Yarrow Stadium was a landmark project that revitalized the venue, transforming it into a modern sports and event facility while addressing seismic concerns. After 2017 assessments identified both the East and West Stands as earthquake-prone, the decision was made to upgrade the facility extensively. The East Stand, beyond repair, was demolished and replaced with a new structure designed for safety, functionality, and community use. Its features include improved accessibility and flexibility, ensuring it meets current standards and caters to a wide range of events.

Fabric Structures played a pivotal role in the redevelopment process. The West Stand required a carefully engineered lightweight fabric roof that integrated seamlessly with its existing steel framework. For the new East Stand, the design team had more flexibility but sought to maintain visual cohesion with the West Stand for a unified aesthetic. They selected Serge Ferrari’s TX30-II PVC membrane for its exceptional durability, flexibility, and light transmission—an ideal choice for large-span structures like stadiums. This material not only enhances weather resistance but also allows natural light to filter through, improving the experience for spectators and athletes.

The fabric roof solution adds to the stadium's functionality and beauty, creating a space that is both practical and inviting. Its durable construction ensures longevity, positioning Yarrow Stadium as a premier venue capable of hosting local and international events for years to come. Fabric Structures is proud to have been part of a project that preserves the cultural and sporting legacy of Yarrow Stadium while elevating its infrastructure to world-class standards.
