Villa Maria’s Tasting Room, nestled in the lush landscape of Auckland, sought to extend its usable outdoor space while preserving the serene beauty of its surroundings. Set among rolling grass and vineyards in the heart of a volcanic crater, this modern building is a destination for wine enthusiasts, offering a bespoke tasting experience like no other. Guests are treated to an immersive journey, sampling Villa Maria’s exceptional wines under the guidance of experts who share the rich history and unique characteristics of each vintage.

Following the tasting, visitors can embark on a guided tour through the stunning Ihumātao vineyard, where they can witness firsthand the source of these award-winning wines and gain insight into the intricate winemaking process.

To complement this extraordinary setting, we were tasked with designing a solution to expand the outdoor area without compromising the property's elegant aesthetic. After thoughtful consultation, we agreed on installing a retractable Oztech awning—a perfect blend of functionality and design. The retractable feature allows the awning to be discreetly deployed when needed, offering shade and comfort for outdoor guests while seamlessly integrating with the architectural style of the building. When retracted, it preserves the open, unobstructed views of the vineyard and landscape, ensuring that the natural beauty of the surroundings remains the focal point.

This enhancement to Villa Maria’s Tasting Room not only increases its capacity for outdoor events but also adds a layer of comfort and versatility, ensuring that guests can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and world-class wines in any weather.
